Black Dyke will join a select group of the most famous rock and roll bands in the world when they take to the Pyramid Stage at the iconic Glastonbury Festival later this year.
Another first
It will be another remarkable first for the Queensbury band to add to a list of concert venues around that world that has already included Carnegie Hall in New York, Sydney Opera House, the NHK Hall in Tokyo and KKL in Lucerne.
Now though they join the likes of David Bowie, Oasis, REM, The Rolling Stones and U2 in performing on a stage that has become the symbol of a festival that attracts over 135,000 people a year.
Free diary
Black Dyke Director of Music, Prof Nicholas Childs told 4BR: "When Michael Eavis asked us to perform on the Pyramid Stage last year we unfortunately had to decline, as we were performing at the other end of the country the night before and an early performance the next day was simply impossible. However, this year we made certain our diary was free."
He added: "We are always innovative in our concert planning and aim to reach new audiences, especially those who wouldn't have been exposed to just what a world class brass band can achieve. This is certainly going to be an amazing musical experience."

First of two
It will be the first of two appearances in Glastonbury for the band in 2017, as they also appear at the prestigious Glastonbury Abbey Extravaganza in August.
