Following the success of last year's Shirebrook Town Music Festival that incorporated the popular 'Brass in the Park' series of Sunday afternoons concerts as well as the Open Entertainment Contest, it has been announced to 4BR that Shirebrook Town Council will once again host the events in 2017.

The third annual Shirebrook Town Music Festival 'Brass Band Entertainment Contest' will be held on Sunday 9th July at Shirebrook Leisure Centre, Park Road, Shirebrook, Mansfield, Notts (NG20 8JQ)
As in previous years there will be no registration, the Event will be open to all bands, contesting or non-contesting, with the entry fee just £50.
The organisers have also increased the generous prize funds on offer, with a top prize of £750 and podium payouts of £400 and £200. There are also additional £200 prizes for the 'Most Entertaining', Second, Third and Fourth Section bands.

Brass in the Park concerts
Meanwhile, Shirebrook Town Council will also host their popular 'Brass in the Park' Sunday concerts from June to September.
The concerts take place at the bandstand in Shirebrook Town Park at 2.00pm
25th June: Shirebrook Miners Welfare
23rd July: Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue Concert
6th August: Pleasley Colliery Welfare
20th August: Ireland Colliery Chesterfield
3rd September: Enderby Band.
Recognition
The Enderby Band directed by MD Simon Greswell will perform on Sunday 3rd September in recognition of their achievement in winning the Open Entertainment contest for the past two years.
A spokesperson for Shirebrook Town Council told 4BR: "We are delighted that Enderby Band accepted our invitation to conclude the Shirebrook Brass in the Park series for 2017. It seemed a great opportunity to invite the 'Double Champions' of our event to showcase their talents."
