Foden's Band has released a special video introduction to accompany their critically acclaimed CD 'Of Gods and Kings'.
Released in October 2016 it was subsequently short-listed for major 'CD of the Year' awards from 4barsrest, Brass Band World and British Bandsman and has since become a best seller with the brass band listening public.
Catalyst
Speaking about the recording Musical Director Michael Fowles told 4BR: "The catalyst behind the project was what I felt was the need to record the wonderful Arthur Butterworth composition 'Odin' a somewhat neglected masterpiece of the brass band repertoire.
This allowed us to also explore other major works such as 'Prometheus Unbound' and 'Le Roi d'Ys' in a contemporary setting alongside 'A King's Lie' by Stan Nieuwenhuis,, Paul Hindmarsh's expertly realised 'King Arthur — Scenes from a Radio Drama' and Howard Snell's immense arrangement of 'Entry of the Gods into Valhalla.' "
Enhances
He added: "The critical response to the recording shows that Foden's continues to be at the forefront of major recording projects and we believe this video, produced from Grants for the Arts through Arts Council England funding also enhances the listener's understanding of the works performed."
