A trio of new signings add strength to 2017 Brighouse & Rastrick assaults

Brighouse & Rastrick has announced three additions to the ranks ahead of the new contest season

Cornets and tuba

Phillip Tait moves from the principal cornet seat at Reg Vardy to the bumper-up seat at West Riding, whilst Jamie Cooper swaps repiano roles from Grimethorpe Colliery. Meanwhile, the experienced Steve Malcolm replaces Andy Cattanach on BBb tuba.

Phillip will replace Mike Golding, who has left to further his conducting career at Pemberton B Band, whilst Jamie replaces Joey Williams.

Band spokesperson Ryan Watkins told 4BR: "Philip and Jamie really impressed everyone when they helped us out recently, and Steve is such an experienced player. It's also great to welcome Philip as it renews a family link after his late father Brian played with us for two years."

These welcome additions further strengthen the band — one which now has real stability. No less than 23 players who performed at last year's Area Championship will take to the stage againBrighouse & Rastrick

Welcome additions

He added: "These welcome additions further strengthen the band — one which now has real stability. No less than 23 players who performed at last year's Area Championship will take to the stage again.

It's always sad to see players leave, so we would like to thank Andy, Joey and Mike for their commitment and dedication. A special thanks must also be given to Rob Westacott, Leon Renilson and Gary 'Tiny' Procter for helping us throughout the audition process that included the British Open and National Finals."
