Staines Brass has announced that Daniel Floyd has taken on the role as their new resident Musical Director with immediate effect.
He takes over from Jonathan Pippen, who has been appointed as assistant Musical Director and musician at Cameron Mackintosh's five-star hit 'Half a Sixpence' in London's West End. Jonathan will remain involved with the band as Assistant MD and Musical Advisor.
Great bunch
He told 4BR: "Staines Brass are a great bunch of people who genuinely enjoy music making and Dan is a great conductor. I've played under him at the RAF and I know the band is in very capable hands. I'm not going to be far away if ever needed, and hope to watch them continue to improve in the future".
Dan started out playing for Redbridge Brass before moving to the South West, where he became a percussionist for the Woodfalls Band. He has held principal and assistant MD roles in both the brass and the wind band worlds and is an artist for PaGu Batons.
I feel that the players at Staines at first were unsure of my style but are now fluent in my conducting language making each rehearsal very exciting!Daniel Floyd
Excited
He told 4BR: "I'm very excited to join the conducting team and hope during my tenure as Music Director to hone the band's identity. I feel that the players at Staines at first were unsure of my style but are now fluent in my conducting language making each rehearsal very exciting!"
