2016 has certainly been a very successful year for Deiniolen Youth Band.
In February the band won the award as 'Most Successful Band of the Day' at the North Wales Solo, Duet & Quartet contest, and followed it up in June with by winning the 'Best Youth Band' at the Newtown Open Air Contest for the third year running.
More recently the band came runner-up at the North Wales Brass Band Championship with their talented principal cornet Ela Haf Williams, winning the 'Best Soloist prize'. Earlier in the year the band also enjoyed competing in numerous locations around Saddleworth and Tameside at the Whit Friday marches.
Wonderful year
Deiniolen Youth MD, Osian Tomos told 4BR: "It's been a wonderful year. We've had great success in all contests and we're looking forward to building on this in 2017.
We have a very good set-up with our Junior Band developing players from a very early age and are looking forward to introducing new contests next year in order to give the youngsters more valuable and exciting new experiences."

Recently the band gave their annual Christmas concert, where awards went to Morgan Gwyn Williams, Iwan Griffith and Prys Hughes. At the concert the Iwan Williams Scholarship for 2017 was presented to the principal cornet player, Ela Haf Williams.
