Hobbins takes on lead role at Strata Brass

The well known player and conductor Alan Hobbins has been appointed the new MD at Strata Brass in Yorkshire.

Strata Brass has announced the appointment of Alan Hobbins as their new Musical Director.

The well known former player with the likes of Grimethorpe, Brighouse & Rastrick, Fairey and Foden's will take on the role with immediate effect, having impressed the band in rehearsals and in the recent Bandfest event.

Proven pedigree

A spokesman told 4BR: "Alan comes with a proven pedigree as a player at the highest level and as a conductor in leading Hebden Bridge to the Yorkshire Area First Section title in 2013 and the Butlins crown in 2016."

The band was overwhelmed with the quality of the 12 applicants, but Alan immediately struck up a rapport during the audition process, and we are now working towards a second year competing at the top level in 2017Strata Brass

Putney and Wimbledon Brass Band

January 8 • Following our promotion to the 2nd section we are looking for a percussionist to do a bit of bing bonging on the timps for the regionals in March. We are a lovely band - everyone says so - so please get in touch. Rehearsals Weds from 1930 in Putney.
