The series of European National Championships continues this weekend with the Danish National Championship being held in Sankt Annae Gymnasium in Valby.
18 bands will compete in three sections, with the Elite Division Champion being crowned National Champion and representing the nation at the 2017 European Championships in Ostend.
Set works
The set works this year are '…Dove Descending' by Philip Wilby (Elite Division), 'Voyage to Worlds Unknown' by Peter Graham in the First Division and 'An English Suite' by Michael Ball in the Third. Bands in each section will also perform an own-choice work.
There are no bands competing in the Second Section, although there are six bands in a special marching band event.
The adjudicators are Roger Webster, Owen Farr, David Johnson, Mike Kilroy, Martin Reinhardt and Lars Hastrup.
Defending champion Lyngby Taarbæk Band are seeking a hat-trick of title wins, and will be conducted by Chris Turner, the current MD of the Llwydcoed Band in Wales, whilst organisers report encouragement at the record number of bands competing in the Third Section.
