Lindley welcomes new signings

The Lindley Band has welcomed a number of new signings as its says goodbye to a stalwart Essayist.

Lindley
The Lindley Band has said hello and goodbye to players

The Lindley Band has welcomed a host of new signings before their appearance at the forthcoming Yorkshire & Humberside contest.

New players

Multi-talented Evan Millard joins on percussion for the contest but will be moving on to the first horn seat immediately after to replace Neville Kay who is retiring after giving wonderful service to the band.

The percussion section is also boosted by Joanna Wood and Matthew Jordan. Both join from non-brass band backgrounds.

We are sad however to lose such a dedicated player in the shape of Nev, who has been with the band for a number of years — right back to the early 1970s when he first played Edward Gregson's 'Essay'MD, Ian Knapton

Essay

MD Ian Knapton MD told 4BR: "It's great to see young players joining us such as Evan and Matthew, whilst Joanna adds much needed experience.

We are sad however to lose such a dedicated player in the shape of Nev, who has been with the band for a number of years — right back to the early 1970s when he first played Edward Gregson's 'Essay'.

Thankfully we haven't lost him completely as he says he is only a phone call away if we are ever stuck!"
