The US Open Brass Band Championship, sponsored by Yamaha USA will take place on Saturday 5th November in St Charles, Illinois.

Four bands

Four bands will compete for the honour of being declared the 14th US Open Champion at the Norris Center by trying to impress adjudicators Tom Palmatier from Norfolk, Virginia and Ray Tizzard from Toronto.

The competitors are: Prairie Brass Band from Arlington Heights, Illinois; defending champion, Dublin Silver Band from Dublin (above), Ohio; Fountain City Brass Band from Kansas City and Chicago Brass Band from Chicago, Illinois.

A new rule change this year will allow bands to use any brass instrument in addition to the usual brass band instrumentation to draw the event in line with the Brass in Concert Championship

The winner will gain an automatic invitation to UK event for 2018.
