Brighouse & Rastick will celebrate the 40th anniversary of almost reaching the very pinnacle of the pop charts in the UK with a special concert at Huddersfield Town Hall next March.
Number 2
The band famously reached Number 2 in the charts in 1977 with their rendition of 'The Floral Dance', and even 40 years later they still perform it at concerts much to the delight of fans young and old.
The original song was written in 1911 by Kate Moss recalling a visit to the Cornwall springtime 'Furry Dance' celebrations and was first recorded a year later.
Top of the Pops
However, it wasn't until Derek Broadbent arranged it for Brighouse & Rastrick that it became an overnight hit and led to the band appearing on the BBC on 'Top of the Pops' and 'Pebble Mill at One'. It was only kept off the number 1 spot by a certain Paul McCartney.

Former players
And just a month before they represent England at the European Championships in Ostend, the band will celebrate the 40 year milestone in true Brighouse style, by asking as many former players from the 1977 band to join them for the celebration concert that will be conducted by Derek himself.
