10 bands will take to the stage at Tanfield School in Stanley to provide their 20 minute entertainment sets

There is a good line-up of bands taking part in the popular Stanley Entertainment Contest at Tanfield School in Stanley on Sunday 16th October (DH9 8AY).

Entertainment programmes

The event started in 2014 and has steadily gained support from competing bands that have to provide a 20 minute entertainment programme that includes a march and hymn tune.

With a generous prize list and awards and a great atmosphere, the action starts at 9.30am, so why not get along and enjoy a great day of brass band entertainment.

No red tape

A contest spokesperson told 4BR: "Ours is an unregistered contest and the idea of it is to have a day of entertainment without the fuss of too much 'red tape'."
