Entertainment numbers up for Oxfordshire contest

Great news for the Oxfordshire & District Brass Band Association, as their inventive approach gains increase in entertainment entries.

OBBA CONTEST
A new approach gives the Oxfordshire & District Brass Band Association a boost in numbers.

The Oxfordshire & District Brass Band Association has announced a strong entry of 14 bands for their forthcoming Entertainment Contest to be held at Marlborough School in Woodstock on October 16th. The event kicks off at 10.00am.

Mixed format

This year a mixed format will be used for the first time — allowing bands from the Fourth Section to play next to these from higher sections and vice-versa.

A spokesperson told 4BR: "We hope that this will mean a more interesting spectacle for the audience. This format was suggested by a participant of the last contest and ODBBA and the entering bands are excited to be able to try this out."

We hope that this is the start of similarly great things for our Entertainment Contest, and we are really looking forward to welcoming everyone to our eventODBBA Contest Controller David Roberts

Thrilled

ODBBA Contest Controller David Roberts added: "We are thrilled to have so many bands enter this year, especially as we had to cancel last year through lack of entries.

Many of the bands are also regulars at our Winter Contest held in February, which is going from strength to strength and now needs to be run over two days in order to accommodate the demand.

We hope that this is the start of similarly great things for our Entertainment Contest, and we are really looking forward to welcoming everyone to our event."
