A news story on the BBC website may give band treasurers cause to come out in a cold sweat at night, after it was revealed that a 12 year old Spanish boy had racked up a bill of 100,000 Euros after advertising with AdWords, a Google pay-per-click service.
Charged by the click
Jose Javier from the city of Torrevieja wanted to buy instruments for his local brass band, Los Salerosos. The young trumpet player thought that each click would earn money — although in reality it meant he was charged.
Thankfully, Google has now said it won't make him pay the fee.
