One of the banding movement's most entertaining events is set to return to Yorkshire, as Brass Factor competitions featuring six bands will take place on the 12th and 19th of November at The Engine Shed, Wetherby and The Picturedrome, Holmfirth.
USP
Established in 2010, Brass Factor's USP is that it is essentially a contest in the form of a talent show, with the performers offering entertainment sets of up to 20 minutes with the aim of impressing a panel of celebrity judges. In addition, the audience also gets a vote — revealing their own choice of favourite on the night.
Founded by Alex Bray, Brass Factor aims to raise public awareness in brass banding as well as nurturing young talent, and since its inception it has raised around £15,000 in support of various charities, which this year will include The Town Foundation and Martin House Children's Hospice.
Excited
Alex told 4BR: "I'm incredibly excited for the launch of Brass Factor this year and plans are in place for it to be a fantastic event.
The support we have gained since 2010 has been phenomenal and if some of this can transferred into promoting brass band culture and young talent, then the event has fulfilled its objectives."
