The Scottish Brass Band Association has announced the launch of its 2017 Young Scottish Composers Competition.
It is open is to Scottish Composers, up to the age of 23, who are invited to submit an original composition for brass band of up to a maximum duration of 10 minutes.
Prizes
There will be prizes on offer of £1,500 to the winner plus £1,000 and £500 to those in second and third place.
The winning composition will be performed by the senior National Youth Brass Band of Scotland at the end of the summer course in Perth on the 29th July.
Final
Scores should be submitted in PDF format along with an MP3 recording, whilst the final will take place at the National Youth Brass Band of Scotland's 2017 Easter course where the Senior Band will perform the top three compositions, as chosen by a respected panel of judges.
