There will be even more high-class brass band contesting to enjoy just 24 hours after the British Open in Birmingham this weekend, as eight bands line-up to battle for a share of the lucrative prize fund on offer at the Dr Martin Wainstones Cup competition in Yarm near Stockton on Tees.
Eight bands
Eight bands will make the trip to perform on the stage at the excellent Princess Alexander Auditorium at Yarm School on Sunday 11th September, each trying to catch the ear of adjudicator Dr Robert Childs.
The contenders will have to perform a march, solo item and own-choice test-piece in their bid to lift the trophy and head home with a hefty cheque for £4,000 tucked into their back pockets.
There are also podium prizes of £2,000 and £1,000 with additional awards for the band coming fourth, 'Best Soloist' and 'Best March'.
