It's nearly full to the brim at Wychavon

There are just a few places left to fill in the Second, Third and Fourth Sections at Wychavon this year — so be quick and don't miss out.

Wychavon
A fantastic increase in demand has meant there are only a few places to fill at Wychavon this year.

Due to a welcome boost in demand, the Wychavon Festival of Brass has announced that they have had to close entries to the Championship and First Section contests at the event which will be held on Saturday 29th October at the De Montfort School in Evesham.

Some spots

Such as been the surge in interest that there are now only two spots available in the Third and Fourth Sections, although there are a still a few more vacancies to fill in the Second Section.

With a generous prize fund and its links to the British Open Spring Festival, the Wychavon Festival of Brass continues to offer bands a superb opportunity to test their mettle against rivals as well as look ambitiously look towards the future.

Step by step

The well organised day led by Val Trim and Kevin Whittaker and their team of volunteers and helpers will around 40 bands take to the stage to give over 50 performances — with that 'step by step ladder' of progress towards the ultimate goal of a place at the British Open now a real incentive for competitors, as Kevin told 4BR.

"Every ambitious band can now see a path towards Symphony Hall and the chance to play against the very best in the world. That has meant a great deal of interest, but we also have to consider the comfort for the bands and not least the adjudicators."

Manageable

Val concurred: "We will always welcome as many bands as want to come, but we have to be sensible about what is actually manageable.

However, we are conscious that some bands will be disappointed this year, so we will offer them the chance to apply for a place on our waiting list.

Any band doing that will also be guaranteed a place at the 2017 event. We would also like to fill the Second Section, so we welcome additional entries there."
