This month saw Jimmy Ball, the highly respected secretary of the Greenalls Band retire from his duties to become the organisation's first ever President.
Over 50 years
Jimmy held the post for over 50 years, and to mark his retirement and elevation to the Presidency, was presented with a special 'President's Blazer' by Liverpool Philharmonic trumpet star Brendan Ball, who is a proud associate member of the band.
Jimmy also received a wonderful presentational book of banding memoires and a piece of glassware commemorating the event — although the hard work in support of his beloved band will not end for the popular bandsman as he takes up his new role as well continuing to play trombone.

Great deal
A Greenalls spokesperson told 4BR: "Jimmy has committed his whole life to Greenalls. We all owe him a great deal in ensuring that our organisation continues to go from strength to strength.
It was a very enjoyable and highly emotional evening where we all could say a big thank you!'
Honour and pride
Meanwhile, Jimmy added: "It is with much honour and pride that I accept the Presidency and I will do my very best to live up to the position."
