The National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain has been reflecting on a superb Summer course led by guest conductor and soloist Philip Smith alongside Bramwell Tovey and Mareika Gray, which came to a musical climax last week with two outstanding concerts in Darlington and Morley.
Response
Speaking after the final concert in Morley, NYBBGB Administrator Philip Biggs told 4BR that he was delighted at the response from players, conductors and audiences alike.
"It has been another wonderful course, enjoyed by everyone. Our thanks go to Philip Smith, Bramwell Tovey and Mareika Gray for their inspirational leadership, to the players for their hard work, dedication and talent and to the audiences who once again came to support the band. We have had two superb concerts."

Successful annual plea
Philip was also encouraged that his annual please for support for the National Youth Band of Great Britain organisation also gained a great deal of success, with numerous people signing up to become a 'Friend of the National Youth and National Children's Bands of Great Britain'.
"It's so encouraging to have people wishing to sign up and become a 'friend' of the organisation. Their generous support is invaluable — and enables us to carry on our pioneering work and to help produce the future stars of the banding movement."
