One of the banding world's most respected soprano cornet players has signed for a new band — some 750 miles from his home.
Martin Britt has been a welcome guest player with Bayerische Brass Band Akademie (3BA) in Germany over the last twelve months or so — performing with them at the European Championships in Lille earlier this year.
Ideal place
Now though he has been able to find an ideal place in his busy playing and work schedule and will be able to commit to more future projects with the band.
Martin told 4BR: "I'm delighted that I will be able to commit more time to the band — they are such a wonderful group of people and have a fantastic musical approach that appeals to me so much.
It may sound slightly surreal, but it does fit nicely into my schedule and it's so good to work with the band, even if the trip home from rehearsal is a bit longer than usual!"
New Zealand, Wales, Germany
Martin has long been regarded as one of the banding world's finest soprano players and someone who enjoys performing around the world — from New Zealand to Wales and now Germany in between.
In fact he recently made a quick return to Wales where he helped Tredegar claim the National Eisteddfod title in Abergavenny.
3BA Band Manager, Jorg Seggelke told 4BR: "To have Martin with us at 3BA is more than having one of the best soprano players in the world.
He is also a great friend and mentor and the 3BA family will benefit from him through his interaction in individual tutorials and rehearsals working under Musical Director Thomas Ludescher."

Proud
He added: "We are more than proud to have Martin in the 3BA family and his performances have motivated our Bavarian Youth Brass Band with his musicality and especially his amazing playing and high notes!"
