The 164th British Open Championships is a confirmed sell out as brass band lovers flock to Symphony Hall for 2016 contest.

Can Grimethorpe retain their title at a packed Symphony Hall

There is not a single empty seat left to be snapped up for the 2016 British Open Championship, after the 'Sold Out' signs were posted at Symphony Hall.

It is the third year in succession that demand has outstripped supply — with the only hope for supporters now resting with the possibility of returned tickets.

Returns

Anyone who has not purchased tickets should check the Symphony Hall website or call 0121 780 3333 regularly to see if any are made, Unused tickets can be returned on the day of the contest itself.

Line-up

The line-up of 19 bands that will battle for the famous Gold Trophy on Prof Peter Graham's 'The Triumph of Time' set-work has also been confirmed — led by defending champion, Grimethorpe Colliery Band, conducted by Dr Robert Childs (above).

Joining them this year are Brass Band Willebroek from Belgium as well as Wellington Brass, who recently claimed the New Zealand National Championship title for a fourth consecutive year.

The competing bands have also been reminded that their player registration details must also be in order for the contest on Saturday 10th September.
