Deiniolen Silver gave themselves a huge boost of competitive National confidence ahead of their appearance in Cheltenham in September.
Strong challenge
The north Walians produced a superb performance under the baton of Lois Eifion to claim the Second Section National Eisteddfod of Wales title in Abergavenny — holding off the strong challenge of rivals City of Cardiff Melingriffith 2, Ogmore Valley and Crwbin.
Their varied programme certainly gained praise from adjudicators Nigel Seaman, Gareth Robinson and David Hayward, as well as thousands of viewers who enjoyed their performance broadcast live on the national S4C television channel.
James Bond
The band opened with 'Kongolela', before soprano player Arwel Williams impressed with the James Bond theme from 'Live and Let Die'. 'Abide with Me' and 'Madrigalum' rounded off their set as they took the trophy back home with them.

Full potential
Clutching the cup, a delighted MD, Lois Eifion (above) told 4BR: "I was very happy with the performance. We chose a programme that fitted our full potential and it paid off. We felt comfortable on stage and everybody played so well."
It was also the latest win of an impressive list of contesting achievements under their talented MD's baton since Lois took over in 2013, including the Championship Section Eisteddfod title in 2014 and a podium finish at the National Finals last year — something they are determined to top this time in a few weeks time.
Lois added: "We are really looking forward to Cheltenham and have already worked hard on the piece."
