The King's visit set for Smithills

Smithills School to host a musical visit from The Band of the King's Division in October.

Smithills Senior Band will be joined by Army musicians in October.

The Band of The King's Division will spend a day working with local pupils at Smithills School in October.

One of only three professional brass bands in the British Army, the Band of the King's Division will also link up with all of the senior brass and percussion players in the school before giving a joint afternoon public concert.

Smithills MD Chris Wormald told 4BR: "Over the past 26 years we have welcomed so many fantastic bands and conductors to Smithills — from Eikanger and Ray Farr to the Coldstream Guards and so many more, so we are delighted to be hosting the King's Division."

At the invitation of the King's Division Band, Smithills have invited all local sixth form brass and percussion players to attend the full day completely free of charge on Wednesday October 12th.
