New judging format for top section at Butlins

There will be a new adjudication format for bands to take into account at next year's top section Butlins Mineworkers Championship — spiced up with extra cash.

BUTLINS
A new adjudication format will be put in place for the 2017 top section contest.

It has been announced that there will a change to the adjudication system employed in the Championship Section contest at the 2017 Butlins Mineworkers Championships, which take place in Skegness on the weekend of 13th-16th January.

As previously announced, the top section event will employ an own-choice selection for the test piece element of the two legged contest — although there will now be an additional £1,000 prize and trophy for the banding topping the discipline.

Entertainment

However, it has also been revealed that the entertainment element the following day will now have a four person adjudication team; with two music judges sitting together to allocate 50 per cent of the marks and two entertainment judges sitting separately to allocate 25 per cent each.

The two entertainment judges will be established musicians with a remit to focus on the quality of the entertainment provided by the competing bands. If there is an overall tie in the marks given over the two days, the entertainment mark will be used as the tie-break.
