A film that will look at the first hand experiences of people involved in the Miners' Strike of 1984/85 is looking for musical assistance.
The research project by the Northern Film School at Leeds is entitled, 'Mining the Memories' and requires five or six players (cornet, horn, bari/euph, trombone and preferably bass) to make themselves available to be filmed in Royston on Tuesday 26th July.
Short films
The work has resulted in eight short films which are currently in pre-production to be shot during July. There are six dramas (five live action and one animation) and two documentaries; one working with Orgreave Truth and Justice Campaign and the other with Goldthorpe Community Shop.
All the films are written and will be made by the ex-miners, miner's wives or daughters.
Players
Casting Director, Suzi Catliff told 4BR: "We are looking for five or six brass players. All that would be required is to be set up on a bandstand as the main character marches past, before breaking into a busked version of 'It's a Long Way to Tipperary'.
All the players should be comfortable playing the short extract from memory. The film is set in the 1960s, so it would be useful if at least one character has a traditional band jacket available."

Reasonable expenses
She added: "Although this is an unpaid job, reasonable expenses will be covered and it should be a fun and interesting experience for all those involved. The film will be shown as part of the Cinage Film Festival in November."
