Smithills enjoy popping over to Cork

Smiths School Senior Band has enjoyed a fantastic short tour to Cork.

Cork

Smithills School Senior Band has just returned from a triumphant musical tour to Cork, where they not only played a number of well received concerts but also visited Blarney Castle, the famous Titanic Experience and enjoyed numerous full band activities — such as taking over an entire ten-pin bowling complex, enjoying a night out at the cinema and two evening meals out.

Return invitations

Under the baton of MD Chris Wormald, the band delighted audiences with repertoire that included 'Riverdance', 'Star Wars', 'MacArthur Park' and even a bit of 'Tom and Jerry' — and has already received invitations to return as soon as possible.

Musically, the highlight was the sensational third concert at Mahon Point, but the unique bandstand at the Fitzgerald Park was unlike anything I've ever seen or experienced beforeMD, Chris Wormlad

Sensational

Chris told 4BR: "As has always, the behaviour of the band on the tour was exceptional. Musically, the highlight was the sensational third concert at Mahon Point, but the unique bandstand at the Fitzgerald Park (above) was unlike anything I've ever seen or experienced before.

The acoustic was superb and the unique fibre glass construction by an aircraft wing manufacturer was stunning."
