Pot hunting bands set for Denby

There will be a very special trophy to win at the Denby Pottery Village 'Brass on the Green' contest this weekend.

Pottery Lane

There will a unique prize on offer for the winning band at the forthcoming Denby Pottery Village 'Brass on the Green' contest which takes place this Sunday (26th June).

Commissioned trophy

Held at the working Denby Pottery Village in Derbyshire in aid of the Macmillan Cancer Care Charity, seven bands will compete in two sections to try the ear of adjudicator Mareika Gray with their entertainment programmes — with the winner taking home a specially commissioned ceramic trophy to fill with a celebratory tipple.

Soft drinks to prosecco

Event organiser Melanie Cooper told 4BR: "We couldn't think of a better way to celebrate the contest being held on a historic pottery site that has been working for over 200 years. It's a special trophy for the occasion — and one that can be filled with everything from soft drinks to prosecco!"

Not only will there be plenty of great brass band music on show, but visitors can also enjoy throwing a pot for themselves, sample the great BBQ food and browse the charity stalls. You can also bring a picnic, just sit on the grass and relax!!

Pottery Champion

The winning band will also claim the title of 'Pottery Village Champion Band 2016', with the action starting at 11.00am. All that and entry is free!
