4BR has been informed that tuba virtuoso and renowned conductor James Gourlay will join the staff of the North American Brass Band Summer School (NABBSS) in Canada next month.
The River City Brass MD will link up with euphonium virtuoso David Childs, Cory principal cornet Tom Hutchinson and an extended tutorial team from Atlantic Brass, Fountain City, Flowers, Woodfalls and Tredegar Bands.
Time and place
The 2016 course takes place from June 27th to July 8th, in conjunction with Canada's Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo (RNSIT).
Sponsored by the Buffet Group and the RNSIT Society, the team will lead and perform with a double brass band of 60 musicians, drawn from across Canada and the United States, as well as delegates from the UK, Switzerland and Finland.
Delight
NABBSS, RNSIT Assistant Director Craig Roberts told 4BR: "It's a delight for us to welcome James and delegates from across the brass band world to Nova Scotia this year.
The NABBSS Brass Band will once again showcase their extensive talents in the Tattoo and through a series of standalone concerts to thousands of people attending the event and a world-wide international television audience."
He added: "It's wonderful for us to be able to showcase the genre this year as part of the world's largest annual indoor show."
