It has been confirmed that Cory's long-serving principal trombone player Chris Thomas will be leaving the band after 17 years this summer, following his appointment to a new teaching post.
Tribute
Commenting on the band's website, MD Musical Director Philip Harper said: "It's difficult to know where to begin when paying tribute to Chris. He has served the band with distinction over many years, and history will undoubtedly prove him to be a genuine legend of Cory Band.
His trombone playing is of the highest quality and continues to astonish us all to this day, and his dedication and commitment to Cory has been exemplary. We are all very sorry Chris will be leaving, he goes with our warm wishes, and we hope he will be back one day.
In the meantime, we will recruit a new player to integrate into our excellent trombone team in time for the British Open in September."

Honour
Speaking of his departure, Chris added: "It's been an honour to occupy the principal trombone seat at Cory during an incredibly exciting and satisfying period in the band's history.
It's particularly sad to be leaving when the band is reaping the rewards of working with Philip, especially in the knowledge that with such a settled team, the exceptional performances of recent times will undoubtedly continue. Cory has been a huge part of my life and I will miss them all."
Title wins
Although there are rumours of his new banding destination, there has been no official confirmation as yet for a player who helped Cory claim a World Championship, four European, five British Open, three National Championship, four Brass in Concert and no less than 11 Welsh Area titles.
