The organisers of the Shirebrook Town Music Festival have informed 4BR that there is still time to enter their popular entertainment contest, which takes place at Shirebrook Leisure Centre on Sunday 10th July.

prize pot

The event boasts a very generous prize pot — with the winners taking away £750 for their 30 minute programme, with podium prizes of £400 and £200.

There are also additional £200 prizes for the 'Most Entertaining' Second, Third and Fourth Section Band performances, whilst bands can use as many borrowed players as they require. There is no registration and the contest is open to any contesting or non-contesting ensemble. The entry fee is £50.

The competition also gives bands an ideal opportunity to perform an extended and varied programme set to an appreciative audience.

Friendly atmosphere

A spokesperson told 4BR: "We have had an encouraging response, but we would be delighted if more bands would take the opportunity to support a great event. The excellent prize money, good organisation and friendly atmosphere make this a contest that has something for everyone."

There is still tie left with a closing date of Tuesday 11th June, so if you are interested in trying to boost your Summer contesting funds, then please contact:
