Holme Valley Competition gains top flight support

The Holme Valley annual Slow Melody competition has gained extra support from Black Dyke, Geneva Instruments, Rath Trombones and Kirklees Music.

The forthcoming Holme Valley annual Slow Melody Competition, run by the Holme Valley Brass Festival, has gained additional support as well as some re-arrangement for this year's event.

In addition to the usual 'Slow Melody' and 'Ensemble' sections, there will also be a new 'Air Varie / Technical' section. A piano will be provided for any competitor, should it be required. The adjudicator has been announced as the experienced David Hirst.

Thanks to support from Black Dyke, Geneva Instruments, Rath Trombones and Kirklees Music, there will also be a host of new awards on offer, including various 'Best Instrumentalist' awards and an 'Outstanding Musical Performance of the Day' prize.

Organiser Graham Bates told 4BR: "We are really pleased to receive this extra support, and will certainly assure a warm welcome to all competitors on the day.

Having listened to suggestions from competitors and adjudicators we hope to continue building the event as part of the banding calendar."

The event is to be held on Saturday 18th June at Hade Edge Bandroom.
