The popular UK-based scratch band Coronation Brass has announced that Andy Wooler (above) will conduct them at the forthcoming European Folklore Festival in Bitburg, Germany in July.
German experience
Band Manager Nick Jones told 4BR: "Andy has a wealth of experience having spent many years as a military musician with the Band of 3rd Battalion, The Parachute Regiment.
He studied at the Royal Military School of Music, Kneller Hall and as well as working as a professional musician he also conducted Mid Sussex Brass and Uckfield Concert Brass."
Delighted
Andy is currently based in Germany where he is a trumpeter with the Bayer Symphoniker and Cologne Concert Brass, as well as conducting the Academy Band.
He added: "I'm delighted to be returning to Bitburg to conduct the band. It's also extra special as I was the first person to be taught by the trip's founder Tim Lord almost fifty years ago!"

Great pleasure
Band Manager Nick Jones added: "It's a great pleasure to have Andy on board especially after he was a player last year after an absence of many years. There'll be even more of an international feel to the festival this year as several players from Germany will also be joining us."
Coronation Brass have been performing at the European Folklore Festival (8th — 11th July) since 2002 and players come together from all over the UK and Germany for a weekend of brass playing and socialising.
