Further success

The competition has already garnered further success for 2015 winner Lewis Furber, whose 'English Counterpoint' composition was released by Cory on its 'Elemental' CD release.

Meanwhile, Philip Harper stated: "We had an unprecedented response to this year's competition with entries from all over the world. I enjoyed whittling the works down to the final shortlist, and I'm sure it will be another special occasion when we play them in Cardiff.

It's so important to provide opportunities for new music for brass bands, and this is one of our key aims at Cory Band. May the best piece win!"
