Boarshurst Silver Band has been seen on prime time television in the past couple of days playing their part in the Queen's 90th Birthday celebrations.
The band was part of a specially commissioned advert by ITV television that was filmed on perhaps the most famous soap opera set in the world — Coronation Street — alongside a host of stars.
Glitz and glamour
In addition to the glitz and glamour of the celebrities, the segment also advertised many of the 'Great British Brands' that make up the cultural hub of Her Majesty's realm — with Boarshurst representing the brass banding movement.
The band was asked to perform with opera singer, Katherine Jenkins, as she sang 'Happy Birthday'.
Fantastic work
A spokesperson told 4BR: "It was a great day. The crew at ITV studios were fantastic to work with and made us feel very welcome — as did Katherine whose first words to the band were; "Look at you! You look fabulous!
I have to say, the women in the band took in the moment, but the men simply stood, slacked mouthed and agog!
After a few takes, and our very own Richard Wooding on solo euphonium coming to Katherine's aid as she nearly took a tumble off stage, we joined the street party and had fun! What a day, what an experience!"
