Smithills treat supporters to best ever evening

The latest musical talents on show at Smithills School provide a packed house with an unforgettable evening of entertainment.

Smithills

Smithills Schools Band MD Chris Wormald has thanked supporters who once again crammed into the Victoria Hall in Bolton to enjoy the school's latest musical extravaganza.

Superb evening

Over a thousand people were treated to a superb evening of entertainment, with later Chris commenting: "What an unforgettable night for every instrumentalist and singer on stage that took part and gave everything. I've once again been inundated with messages of congratulation and amazement but none more special than from the Mayor of Bolton, Councillor Carole Swarbrick."

Excellent standard

He added: "I genuinely cannot congratulate everyone involved enough with so many people saying it was the best yet: Not bad after 26 years of genuinely excellent standard Smithills concerts!"

Music for St George

Whilst the Senior Brass Band performed works such as James Curnow's 'Jubilation' and 'Riverdance', the Senior Big Band showcased Glen Miller whilst the massed bands produced a stunning rendition of 'Deep Harmony' — all rounded off with an appropriate 'Music for St George' closing section that saw the audience join forces with the performers to lift the roof.
