Two dozen to take to the stage at Buxton

24 bands will take to the stage at the popular Buxton Brass Band Festival in May.

Buxton Pavilion

A good entry of 24 bands will compete at the Buxton Brass Band Festival on Sunday, 8th May.

Despite the closure of the iconic Octagon Theatre (above) for necessary building repairs, competitors from as far afield as Durham and Newark will take to the stage in a purpose built, semi-permanent marquee.

Challenge

A spokesperson told 4BR: "It's been quite a challenge to come up with a format which will give the bands and their supporters the enjoyable day's contesting that can always be expected at Buxton — but we are sure they will once again do that."

Judges

It was confirmed that Sarah Groarke-Booth will adjudicate the Fourth and Third Sections, with Derek Broadbent taking on the responsibilities for the Second and Championship/First Sections.

The contest will start at 10.00am with the Fourth Section.
