Oslo Brass Festival ready for innovation

This weekend's Oslo Brass Festival will be a mix of fantastic music making and innovative approaches — and 4BR will be there to cover it as it unfolds...

Olso

4BR will be heading to Norway this weekend to cover the innovative Oslo Brass Festival, where bands will provide outstanding competitive entertainment over two days in different styles and venues — with their efforts also adjudicated in an equally innovative fashion.

Musical adventure

The event has been inspired by the Grenland Festival — and that sense of musical adventure sees the 22 bands give performances in the wonderful Jacob Church in Oslo on Friday afternoon and evening and then the following day at the Astrup Fearnley Museum.

Requirement

The only requirement for the bands is what music they should play that reflects the venue around them — from serious church or religious inspired music to upbeat concert repertoire, whilst the adjudication process will see no less than five judges working separately — with one judge having their remarks published immediately on 4BR.

Audience judging

All this and the one judge will be the audience themselves — who will also rank the bands in their order of preference.

As always there is a fantastic party atmosphere to enjoy on the Saturday with the Brass Night — so nobody should get any sleep either!

There is a generous prize fund up for grabs as well with the winning band in the Elite Division taking home 15,000 Krone as well as a gift certificate worth £5,000 from sponsors Yamaha.

Live coverage

4BR will be there to give live coverage of the event — and play its part in the publishing of the judge's comments as well as putting up our own right next to them to see if we agree!!

It promises to be great fun, entertaining, and full of innovation.
