Elite level Danish band Aarhus Brass has announced that it will team up with renowned composer and conductor Jacob Vilhelm Larsen for their appearance at the forthcoming Oslo Brassfestival.

The band based in the capital of Jutland will team up with the former Stavanger MD to give an extra boost to Oslo trip. Jacob held the MD role at Aarhus Brass between 2004 & 2009 before moving to Norway.

Pleasure

He told 4BR: "It's a pleasure to team up again with both old and new faces in the band. Aarhus Brass means a lot to me as they played such a big part in my development both as a conductor and composer. I'm looking forward to our performances in Oslo."

Unique format

The Oslo Brassfestival runs from the 22nd-23rd of April and is arranged by the Oslofjord Brass Band. The unique entertainment format will see bands perform a 15-minute church concert set on Friday evening in Kulturkirken Jakob, with a 20-minute entertainment set on Saturday evening held in an old factory. It all ends up with a big Brass Night late into the night.

Aarhus will feature Edward Gregson's classic 'Connotations' as well as two movements from Jacob's 'Phenomena' Suite' commissioned by Russell Gray and the Reg Vardy Band for the 2015 Brass In Concert Championship. Principal cornet Sidsel Lund will perform Goedicke's 'Concert Etude' with Sofie Brems Sorensen leading on flugel on Jacob's arrangement of 'Eyes of A Child'.

Inspiring

Band Vice-Chairman, Michelle Sondergard Knudsen told 4BR: "It's great to have Jacob back with us. I've been a member of the band since 2007 and even then Jacob was an inspiring conductor.

However, I must say that he has reached a completely new level. Jacob is a motivating and dedicated conductor who demands players deliver at their best at all times. We are really looking forward to participating in the Oslo Brassfestival and to give the audience great entertainment."
