Hirst the man to impress at Hade Edge

David Hirst will be the man in the box to impress at this year's popular Holme Valley Slow Melody & Ensemble Competition.

David Hirst

The Sixth Annual Holme Valley Slow Melody & Ensemble Competition will take place on Saturday 18th June, at the impressive Hade Edge bandroom.

Exceptional playing

Event organiser Graham Bates told 4BR: "We were delighted to see an increased entry in 2015 as the competition starts to become a regular date in the banding calendar, and we were treated to some exceptional playing in all sections.

We hope to see lots of friends, old and new this year and will once again be providing excellent catering in a flexible, friendly and relaxed atmosphere."

Adjudicator

The experienced adjudicator will be David Hirst, who will be listening out for what is invariably a very high class level of playing in the solo and ensemble sections — as well as for the first time, an open air-varie class.

Following requests, the organisers will also make available a piano should any competitor wish to bring along an accompanist. In addition, new awards will be presented in the various categories.

We hope to see lots of friends, old and new this year and will once again be providing excellent catering in a flexible, friendly and relaxed atmosphereorganiser, Graham Bates
