Members of the UniBrass Championship team will be using their experience to help with the running of the forthcoming National Youth Brass Band Championships in Manchester this weekend, as well as reaffirming their partnership with the Brass for Africa charity (above).
Experience
The team will consist of a mixture of past and present UniBrass organisers with a large number coming from the 2017 hosts of York University.
Chairman of the organising committee Andrew Straiton told 4BR: "With the UniBrass championships coming to the University of York we want to get as much experience as possible at how the best contests are run.
What better way to do this than supporting the next generation of players and our friends at Brass Bands England at the National Youth Championships."
Brass for Africa
UniBrass will also be running a trade stand, so any budding university players can find out all about the annual contest. They will also be collecting donations for the partner charity Brass for Africa, with every donation receiving a free UniBrass Bag.
So if you are off to the RNCM on Sunday, please bring along any unused but playable brass instruments, mouthpieces, music stands or music to go to a child in Africa and receive a thank you reward.
Mouthpieces
The Charity is particularly in need of mouthpieces at the moment, so if you are sitting on a draw of old ones, please find them a great new home.
Brass for Africa works with local partners to provide regular music education and performance opportunities to many children and young people. Currently the organisation supports in excess of 10 brass bands projects for children in Uganda and Liberia.

Fantastic partnership
Jim Trott founder and Executive Director of Brass for Africa told 4BR: "We are very proud of the fantastic partnership we have with UniBrass, who continue to champion our cause everywhere they go.
This support is vital for us to continue in our mission to make a positive and transformational change to the lives of some extremely disadvantaged children and young people in Africa through brass music and brass music education."
Please donate
If you have instruments, mouthpieces, music stands or music to donate please e-mail Chair@unibrass.co.uk to arrange for it to be collected.
