Bands get ready for Band Cymru semi-finals

12 ensembles will take to the stage at the Aberystwyth Arts Centre this weekend for the televised Band Cymru competition — and you can enjoy it there for free!

The series of semi-finals of the 2016 Band Cymru competition will be held in Aberystwyth on the weekend (9th/10th April).

Twelve brass, chamber winds and jazz ensembles will take to the stage of the Aberystwyth Arts Centre, where their programmes will be recorded live for broadcast on the national S4C channel over the following weeks leading up to the broadcast of the televised final.

That will feature the top four bands, regardless of which semi-final they compete in, at the Parc & Dare Theatre on Sunday 22nd May.

The four semi-finals can also be enjoyed for free.

Two days of music making

All you have to do is make the trip to Aberystwyth, which the first mini-contest takes place on Saturday afternoon at 2.30pm, followed by the second at 8.00pm. The same format will occur on Sunday, with the third and fourth semi-finals.
