Boarshurst look back to the future

Boarhurst Band has been looking towards the future with new signings, moves and a trip to Holland.

Boarshurst

The past 12 months have been a very busy time for the Boarshurst Band.

A fantastic victory in the Third Section at the North West Regional Championships in 2015 resulted in the band gaining promotion — with them building on that success to claim a podium finish at this year's event in Blackpool to secure a place at the Second Section National Finals in Cheltenham in September.

Pleasure

MD James Garlick told 4BR: "It's been a pleasure to conduct the band and to see every player grow in confidence and relish the challenge of playing at a higher level."

However, due to work and family commitments Boarshurst has said a sad farewell to euphonium player, Amy Sheridan and front row cornet, John Whittle.

Thanks

James added: "The band would like to thank Amy and John for all their hard work and wish them well in their new jobs and family life."

It was announced that baritone player Chris Lloyd has now moved onto euphonium, whilst they welcome the signing of Mandy Grundy, on solo baritone. Meanwhile, Simon Liles has joined on the front row from Greenfield, following in his father's footsteps.

I'm delighted with the changes and new additions. Both are extremely good players, hard working and will only add strength in the sections they joinMD, James Garlick

Delighted

James Garlick added: "I'm delighted with the changes and new additions. Both are extremely good players, hard working and will only add strength in the sections they join."

Boarshurst is now preparing for a trip to Holland where they will meet and perform with Felison Brass.
