Bristol based Filton Concert Brass has announced that they are to work with one of Europe's leading brass performers and conductors, Andreas Kratz — trombonist of the Gothenburg Opera Orchestra (above).

Acclaimed

The critically acclaimed Swedish conductor will also lead a free workshop session for performers exploring lyricism and style in brass band performance. The event has been supported by Brass Bands England through the Norman Jones Trust.

Rare opportunity

Filton's MD, Tom Davoren told 4BR that the visit provides a rare opportunity for players and conductors alike to work alongside a world class musician in a relaxed and friendly environment.

"I'm delighted that Andreas will be visiting Filton to work with us and provide a free, community focused brass workshop.

The band and I can't wait to learn from his vast experience as a professional trombonist and are also excited to share his expertise with as many fellow musicians who can make it along to join us. It really is a unique opportunity to works alongside a remarkable musician."

Time and place

The workshop session will take place at Bristol Easton Salvation Army on Friday 1st April at 8.00pm.

The hall at Bristol Easton not only boasts a beautiful acoustic in which to play, but also has ample stage space for a large massed band and plenty of room to park cars.
