A new March & Hymn Tune contest has been announced at the famous Beamish Open Air Museum in County Durham.

A new contest entitled, 'Brass at Beamish' has been announced by the Durham County Brass Band Association.

March & Hymn Tune

The March & Hymn Tune event will be held on Sunday 15th May in the grounds of award-winning Beamish Open Air Museum, near Stanley in County Durham. The contest will be open to all bands — with an approximate 12.30pm start

Grades

Section A: Nationally graded Championship, First and Second Sections
Section B: Nationally graded Third and Fourth Sections
Youth Section:

Prize fund

DCBBA spokesperson Hugh Stephenson told 4BR: "We are offering a prize fund of £1,550 which should hopefully attract bands from across the country and culminate in an excellent afternoon of music making.

The adjudication will be open and each band will play a contest march and hymn tune of no more 10 minutes duration."

Great admission rates

He added: Beamish Open Air Museum has offered us amazing admission rates on the day. With the usual adult entry to the museum at £18.50, each participating bandsperson with be admitted free of charge together with one guest. Entry for all others will be only £6.00."
