Delegates enjoy Mid-Winter musical warmers

Nearly 100 delegates enjoyed getting into early season shape at the recent SWBBA Mid-Winter Workshop in North Devon — led by Paul Holland and his tutors.

The 18th Mid-Winter Brass Workshop, organised and promoted by the South West Brass Band Association, was held last weekend at the West Buckland School, North Devon.

Intensive tuition

The event was attended by 94 participants of all grades and ages who received intensive tuition on an eclectic programme of repertoire from tutors, Paul Holland, David Thornton and Mark Wilkinson.

The workshop concluded with a concert attended by an appreciative audience, including the Mayor and Mayoress of South Molton, where works from 'Prismatic Light', 'Calon Lan' and 'The Heat is On', contrasted with 'An Evening Prayer', 'Uptown Funk' and 'Sunrise over Blue Ridge' amongst others.

Awards

Association President, Sue Richards, presented two awards from the Goff Richards Memorial Fund to Emily Quick (kit percussion) and Charlotte Nuta (cornet)
