Members of the Lewis Merthyr Band can be seen in action in a new programme on BBC Wales later this week in a series that charts the progress of three of the great rivers of the nation.
River Taff
The band will appear in the second programme (aired at 7.30pm on Friday 12th February) which follows the writer and fisherman Will Millard the length of the River Taff, from its source high in the stunning Brecon Beacons to the Bristol Channel.
Trout and salmon
The river which once ran black with coal dust, is now one of the finest trout and salmon rivers in Wales. Will meets the members of Lewis Merthyr Band and fishes for grayling with a former miner who is now a champion fly-fisherman.
He also visits one of Britain's biggest open-cast coal mines and sees how this spectacular landscape is being reclaimed after centuries of mining.
