4BR has been informed that after six highly successful years, the musical partnership between Jonathan Beatty and Dinnington Colliery Band has come to an end.
Yorkshire trio
Under his baton the band enjoyed three Yorkshire Regional Championship victories (above in 2014) as well as consecutive wins at the popular Buxton and Leicester contests and top six finishes at the National Finals and Butlins Mineworkers Championship.
The band also increased its concert profile and set up a training band which has developed a number of new players.
Tribute
Jonathan commented: "I've seen both children and adults develop into super players, and I pay tribute to Band Manager Joanne Brookes Wright, for her work with the successful training band.
Dinnington has true character and spirit and this always came through in their playing, with gritty and exciting performances. However, I have had time constraints recently, and it was clear that my ambition for Dinnington to win the Second Section Yorkshire Area would have to be with someone else."
New MD
Jonathan's decision has seen the experienced Lindon Bolt appointed as the new MD. Lindon enjoyed five successful years building a solid team at Deepcar Band where he recently took the decision to step down.
He told 4BR: "I'm very excited by the opportunity to lead Dinnington. They have a great attitude and team spirit and I look forward to what the future may bring. I hope I can live up to the legacy left by my predecessor!"

Close to heart
Jonathan added: "Dinnington has found a committed and talented conductor to take them forward — and he's a thoroughly nice chap too! I still feel a part of Dinnington and the members are close to my heart.
I will see them regularly and look forward to their performance in Bradford."
