The City of Cardiff (Melingriffith) M2 Band has announced the appointment of Jack Capstaff as their new conductor.
Talent
The talented Yorkshireman is currently studying composition and conducting at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama in Cardiff, and has already enjoyed success as a player with BTM, Yorkshire Imperial Metals and City of Cardiff M1, as well as playing trumpet in college run ensembles and becoming Musical Director of Foresters Brass 2000.
His love for composing and arranging grew from conducting from the age of 15, and he now enjoys expanding his knowledge and expertise in both contemporary and traditional repertoire.
New signings
The band has also announced the new signings of Manon Eleri and Claire Bradford on solo cornet, and Gareth Davies on soprano. Katy Hollowood returns on first horn with Andrew Walford coming in on trombone.

Real pride
A spokesperson told 4BR: "We are delighted to have secured such a fine young musician in Jack and are delighted to welcome our new signings.
There is a real pride however in the promotion of six young players from the City of Cardiff M3 Band.
Emily Williams, Harry Williams, Catrin Jones, Twm Richards, Daniel Bray and Owain Griffiths have all made the transition, showing that our long term investment in producing our own players continues to bear wonderful results — especially as Owain is the first player to have started his playing in the Melingriffith beginner's band, M4."
