The Stalybridge Old Band has announced the death of Keith Greenwood, who passed away aged 74 on Thursday, 21st January at the Willow Wood Hospice in Tameside.
Highlights
Keith started playing the Eb tuba at Tintwistle in 1973, before moving to Lees & Glodwick Band where in 1988, he enjoyed both an Area win and an appearance at the National Final — one of the highlights of his banding life.
He also played with Zion Methodists Oldham, Denton, Hollinworth, Uppermill, Dobcross Silver and Freizland Bands, before moving to Stalybridge Old in 2005, where for the last five years he was a respected Band Chairman and Trustee.
Family
Other personal banding highlights came with playing at the Menim Gate, watching the band win £1,000 in coming runner-up at the Butlins Championship this year, and having his whole family playing in the same band at the same time.
Keith leaves his wife Audrey, son Paul and daughter Julie, plus both their families and grandchildren.
